Four years after graduation, the average Black/African American college graduate owes $52,726, compared to $28,006 for the average white college graduate.
BLACK BUSINESSES
Only 47% of Black business owners’ requests for loans were approved, compared with 75% for white business owners.
BLACK HEALTH
White Americans’ life expectancy declined by 1.2 years during the early pandemic; for Black/African Americans, that number was about 3 years.
BLACK CHILDREN
Due to the large share of Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and stimulus checks distributed in March 2021, Black populations reached their lowest rate of poverty at approx. 14%.
BLACK WOMEN
In 2020, the maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black/African American women was 55.3 deaths per 100,000 live births, 2.9 times the rate for non-Hispanic White women.
BLACK MEN
Black/African American men have a lower life expectancy than white men and are more likely to die prematurely.
BLACK NEIGHBORHOODS
Metropolitan areas with greater devaluation of Black neighborhoods are more segregated and produce less upward mobility for the Black children who grow up in those communities.
