SEAP Reads Q2

Welcome to our “book-ish” club! It’s a space where we can go deeper into the topics that matter to Southern changemakers and engage as a community with ideas that can impact our work. We call it a “book-ish” club because the list includes books, articles, podcasts, and video revolving around a quarterly theme.

How it Works:

  • Read/listen/watch as many of the suggested pieces as you want- there’s no minimum to participate!
  • Join the discussion on our online community on The SEAP Table and share your thoughts.
  • Keep the discussion going by attending a “book-ish” club meeting at the end of the quarter, where you can talk through what you’ve learned and deepen your connections to other Southern advocates.

SEAP Reads suggested materials are offered as a means to generate thoughtful discussion. The views contained in the suggested materials or held by the creators or publishers are not necessarily the views of SEAP.

Southern Identity, Culture, and Narrative Change

This quarter, we will examine how stories about the South are shaped, who gets to tell them, and how they influence policy, power, and possibility. Together, we’ll reflect on the histories, cultures, and lived experiences that define the region, and consider how shifting narratives can open new pathways for equity and justice.
